Bands

Michelle Allen -- A girl that can actually play guitar. Sings and songwrites, too.

The Five Foot Flame -- My favorite band-that-has-to-constantly-tell-people-they're-not-gay.

Tigerbot Hesh -- Trio of power down in Columbia, featuring catchy songs and refreshingly solid musicianship.

Farewell For Tonight -- I've seen these guys many many times and I still don't know how describe their sound. I'll call it "rockin' rock by super nice guys."

The Windups -- Another band called the Windups located in Bizzaro-land, aka Philadelphia (some of the videos are "not safe for work", so be warned . . . )

Miscellaneous Stuff

Pianographique -- Make your own Beastie Boys song, and video, right now

menwholooklikekennyrogers.com -- It includes not only a gallery of Kenny Rogersesque men, but tips on how you too can look like Kenny Rogers, and where the best places are to find men who look like the great bearded one.

keithgroover.com -- This is Keith Groover's webpage. He's a guitar teacher in Greenville who teaches acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and bass. He's taught about 4,000 guitar lessons.

(sorry about that -- I'm trying to raise my Google profile)

The Monkey Shakespeare Simulator -- If you've ever wondered how long it would take monkeys to type out the works of Shakespeare.

claybolt.com -- South Carolina's best nature photographer, and the unofficial Wind-Ups documentarian.

Credenda Agenda -- Great magazine run by Douglas Wilson, one of the big church leaders of the classical school.

Earshot -- Former home of Greenville's best record store, but still possibly the best.

Urban Legends and Folklore -- Wondering if Hillary Clinton really was in the Black Panthers?

Soda Play -- The best place on the internet to torture small robots that you create yourself.

Trade Games Now -- A free and well-managed site that provides a valuable service without tons of annoying pop-up ads? Yeah, it's probably a dead link by now.

Engrish.com -- Documenting Japanese abuses of the English language since 1996. This one is my favorite.

The Discerning Reader -- A great resource for finding theologically sound religious books, CDs, and more.

The National Review -- Back when I was a political junkie, I'd read up to thirty different online publications a day. I've weened myself of all of them except for this one.

Google Fight -- The only way to truly settle an argument. Keith beats Luke and Cliff. However, in the battle between The Wind-Ups and Every Other Band On The Face Of The Planet Earth, The Wind-Ups win. Ha ha, take that, Beatles.

A few years ago I saw a sign in front of a strip club (ahem, "gentleman's lounge") that said "NOW HIRING DANCERS". The next day, I noticed some clever guy had changed it to "HIRING COWS". If he had used the Internet Anagram Server, though, he would have found that he could have said "HI ACNED RINGS WORN" instead. Update: THE WIND-UPS = HIP NEW DUST

BandToBand.com -- Proving that every band is connected to every other band.
